Who Said It?

This whole situation with the Occupy of Wall Street (OWS) reminds me of one of my favorite books in the Bible and quote.  Now, before you run to the hills because I am using a quote from the Bible, in a non church setting please stay with me for just a minute.  I promise it will be painless, all about you and beneficial to you.  The question of who said it is just to get your brain warmed up.  The main question I want you to answer is this.  How does the quote below and the situation of the OWS relate to your life right now?  Read the quote in its entirety then go back and remove the word Jews and insert your family name.

Quote: “For if you keep silent at this time, relief and deliverance shall arise for the Jews from elsewhere, but you and your father’s house will perish.  And who knows but that you have come to this kingdom for such a time as this and for this very occasion?” Esther 4:14

Are you desensitized to hearing and seeing the suffering of others?  There are people; our neighbors, co-workers, church members, senior citizens, children and the homeless suffering right now.  Many people don’t have jobs, food, or homes or they have the threat of losing it all.  You might be sitting comfortably on the couch with a roof over your head, food on the table and money in the bank.  In fact, everything might be looking really good in your life just like it was for Queen Esther in the quote above.  But things can change over night with one visit to the doctor, one pink slip, or one late payment.  What happens when things change for you?

At some point, there may be some clear demands coming from the OWS and those demands may benefit you.  Those demands will be measured and assessed and perhaps go down in history.  However, I think it’s the unmeasured demands that will benefit mankind the most.  The reasons for the protest are many but somebody out there is getting it.  I believe there are people in power that are having an “aha” moment.  There are governments, company leaders and individuals watching and learning the value of fairness, honesty and integrity.  Those are the benefits that you will reap from the OWS protesters that are priceless.

I just returned from the National Publicity Summit in New York.  I got a chance to gather some insight into how our national and local media works whether that is television, radio and print or all rolled into one the: Internet.  Those really important stories don’t always get publicized but it doesn’t make them less important.  We may never know all the angles and demands of the OWS.  I suggest you don’t wait for a clue from media to act on different situations.  There are a few options you can take now if you believe in the power of one.  Will you keep silent or will you provide relief and deliverance for someone?
